Nor mine, hence my regular activity there, too.

You just have too much time on your hands. What you need is someone like Mrs. Richard Strauss to yell at you: "Go compose!"
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

CMG is managed by a woman who is a full and fanatical racist who
hates anyone who is not an extreme right wasp.

OMG CONSERVATIVES RUN RUN!!!!

Hyperbole much?

I was the most right-wing person on the board and she actually kicked me out for linking to Kevin McDonald once. So much for being a fanatical racist wasp.

He is posting @ CMG now.

For the record, I had been registered here as nut-job.  I have decided to participate mainly at CMG because intrusive mean spirited "moderation" has dulled my enthusiasm for this site.

So, even though I had to wade through a mess of gayhating and liberal baiting [at CMG]....
What?  I participate there nearly as much as here and have not seen either.  There are some who believe that gays are entitled to special rights not shared by the rest of society, and some who dispute that.  The former are apt to attack the latter as "gayhaters" rather than to discuss the issues on their merits and to allow that reasonable people may differ even after consideration of all the relevant facts.  I've not seen any "liberal baiting" either, but rather the opposite.  The majority of GMG members are self-described liberals, more than the number of conservatives and moderates combined.  A handful of the former are rabid partisans with a long and shameful history of attacking anyone who does not share their prejudices, or who challenges them to back up their claims with factual support, or who points out their hypocrisies and faulty logic, as "extreme right-wing fascist Republican racists" and the like (witness DFO's post above).

The worst of them--one of whom still posts here occasionally--repeatedly go to slanderous extremes of misrepresentation to attack and taunt moderates and conservatives...and (much to their shame, I think) the more reasonable liberals on the board do nothing to restrain such vicious attacks, therefore tacitly approving and supporting the others' idiotic bigotry.  (Much to his credit, Karl is one of the few ideological "liberals" who does sometimes object to the excesses of the self-righteous wackos who believe that the most horrid behavior is justified because they believe themselves "liberal" and thus morally superior to everyone else, regardless of how loathsome their own conduct.

Even though your previous statements on this thread strongly suggest that you intend this as a facetious sneer, I will treat it as sincere and say that you are welcome.  Not many are wise enough to recognize the kindness others show in trying to help us to see and correct our own behavior.  If you can honestly examine your comments regarding Corlyss, you will see that my characterization of them--and of you, for making them--was both fair and accurate.  If this is truly the case, then I commend your unusual maturity and capacity to learn.

Folks, Could I just say here that Rob does not encourage negative discussion of the folk who run, 'The Other Place.' I think he basically views them as colleagues and imagine he would be less than thrilled should CMG provide a platform for attack of him.

I am not censoring anyone who has mentioned the folk who run CMG, as there is no obvious rule about this. But it is best if there not a rivalry constructed in anyone's mind.

Well, whether or not I contributed to your decision; I want to say I am glad to see you back.

The music portion of the forum is just too inactive and for the most part inconsequential to be of much value to me. That is all. I don't partake in political or religious discussions anyway.

Going by the look-sees I've taken lately I think the music section of CMG has a pretty high standard momentarily (these things go up & down all the time), and Lance is a very nice man, with (obviously) great expertise in piano music. The other moderator I found really hard to stomach. However if you only post in the music section you'll hardly ever run into her.

I might still be a member there, don't really know or care.  I didn't have any problem with the political/social atmosphere; it's just that postings on music were much less frequent than on this board.  Fact is that I'm a one-board person (one woman also).

I haven't visited CMG for quite a while; lost the link when my computer crashed and didn't bother to recover it afterwards (forgot all about it actually). Lance is indeed a terrific person and a real asset to the place and the music discussions are interesting, if only somewhat subdued from time to time.

My sentiments echo knight's.  I see no reason to bash other forums, since people are free to spend as much or as little time here, and at other sites, as they wish.  (Personally, like Bulldog and some others, I just don't have time to do more than one forum, and I like the physical interface here, which is very graphics-friendly.)

Yes, ditto to this, too.  I am always glad to see people return who are interested in discussing classical music.

If you are able to glean from Saul Chanukah's writings on gays that he doesn't hate them, then you and I have such fundamentally different views on language and human decency and what it means to coexist with others in this world, I don't think discussion will bridge the gaps.

I don't read Saul's blather and haven't since shortly after he arrived here.  It might have taken as many as two posts to recognize his severely diminished capacity, but it was probably no more than one, same as Sean.  Why do you waste your time reading his mindless drivel--especially since it seems to just piss you off?

I read it for about a half an hour, all told. It had a wreck-on-the-highway quality I couldn't quite resist, I suppose.
