Been playing around with Indian music, the result of which is the idea to record some fusion pieces.  Having no great affinity to play Jazz, ICM offers another tradition for structured improvisation.  This piece is inspired by shenai player Bismillah Khan and bastardizes a gat (composition) he played in jhaptal (a 10 beat pattern) to a funk groove.  The raga is Ragashree, which is related to bagashree above but uses the mixolydian rather than the dorian mode:

Working on moving some older material I had on Broadjam to Youtube.  Here is a short guitar piece - Caprice for KRB that was inspired by my daughter (the background picture is a painting of hers).  The idea was to use a simple motif to try to create a piece of absolute music that has something of a childlike sense of exploration and wonder.

See, what happens is they tell you you're going to go on at nine, so at eight thirty, you start drinking. Here it is nine-fifteen, and I'm out of my mind. At nine I was a funny son of a bitch.

Geologist.

The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away

Got me a banjo a few months ago.  Strung it with nylon strings so I could use my fingernails & classical guitar technique

Piece I wrote inspired by the Stanislaw Lem tale in The Cyberiad. In the story, a piece of trash thrown from a passing spaceship into a junk pile starts a reaction that results in the garbage assembling itself into a sentient creature, Mymosh the Self-Begotten. Mymosh then goes on to develop grandiose notions of himself and the creator who must have made him. I tried to capture some of the retro sci-fi feel of the book (and the illustrations of Daniel Mroz)
