It's rather obvious that the Sitkovetsky family has several representatives in the musical field. I've heard a few things by Dmitri a while back and was fairly impressed. I've seen an Olga Sitkovetsky listed. And just today, I saw a CD with youngster Alexander on an EMI album called "Russian Romantic Rarities for Violin and Piano." Seems to me that I've seen a fourth name elsewhere, as well. Are they out to establish some kind of dynasty or what? Do we have any fans here? And if so, which Sitkovetsky is most worthy of our attention...and what performances should we look for to be convinced of his/her/their talents?

Oh...and especially important, should I go back to the store and grab the CD by Alexander?

Inquiring minds want to know.

The great Julian Sitkovetsky was still the best; Dimitri, Sasha et al are just good. Mrs Sitkovetsky (Bella Davidovich) is a highly ambitious woman.
Everyone should listen to Julian Sitkovetsky's 1954 Romanian Radio performance of the Khachaturian Violin Concerto; that is playing!

I have this CD by Alexander Sitkovetsky, with uncle Dmitri conducting. I would give it a recommend.

He was a Menuhin pupil, as it happens.  I saw him playing the Tchaikovsky concerto at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh 2 years ago, which he does very well.

The great Julian, of course, was unsurpassed.

The one with the composer conducting? How about the Shostakovich VC 1 which is coupled with it? Still streets ahead for me.
