Old school (going back in time):
* message board
* email list
* letters
* actual face to face meetings

We've gone from meaningful conversations in person to meaningless twitter updates in less than twenty years! :D

Message board forums are about community, whereas Facebook and Twitter seem to be mainly about one's self.

Bah. Real old skoolers populate the Usenet, still... ;)
Well I tweet sometimes as classical59192, but Twitter basically is only about dick sizes (# of followers). I'm following Karl now. I'm a dick extender.

Superhorn

   I just started tweeting yesterday.  I'm mrclassicalmusi   here (no c).

I'm thinking that a less graphic metaphor might be in order if this discussion intends to continue. Perhaps some clever little euphemism might be in order...  $:)

Posting in the What are you listening to? thread is the closest I want to get to anything like Twitter.  And I don't even like posting what I'm listening to.  My goal is to be online less and less until one day I am not online at all.

It's a banana, Dave... ::)  And a good euphemism, I might add. :D

I find verbal imagery so much more compelling, don't you?
