Quote from: foxandpeng on September 28, 2024, 11:47:58 PMConsidering how highly I esteem Pēteris Vasks, I haven't listened nearly as much as I should, to the two recent releases of his VC2, 'In Evening Light'.

He remains in my top 2 living composers.

I have an inordinate love for his music and this continues to confirm his stature.
I'll have to check out his music.  By the way, who is your other favorite contemporary composer?

This second recording of the Second Violin Concerto seems to be available as download only and with no coupling. Is that truly so?

Emil Tabakov holds the other place, for me. His symphonies are as defiant as Vasks is redemptive.

I am a dedicated streamer, so I don't know,  tbh - I'm just happy this is streamable.

Fortunately I have the Bohren recording already, so it's not a pressing matter for me.
