Well, many artists have been (are) desperate people  :-\.

When diameter exceeds height, I'd draw the line.

You simply have to see the beauty in it! ;D
That exceeds all.

As I have seen our Richtervangelist discussed a lot about Ivan Moravec and since I really enjoy Chopin Nocturnes, in addition to the desire to further beef up my collection of harpsichord music, I ordered the following CD's from Amazon today ...

Arrived in the post today. Blimey. The box seemed a bit thicker than I'd expected, but when I opened it up, I saw why. The booklet is perhaps thicker than average, but also the CDs are in a separate, 'fold-out' package that's beautifully designed. Beneath each CD are drawings of two characters from the opera, revealed when the CD is removed. I feel thrilled to bits already, and haven't heard a note yet.

Nice Handel's opera.  I have this set on both CD and LP by Raymond Leppard, a much older recording ...

My intended post went to the wrong spot ...

Have you visited your local Borders store lately?  My local Borders store was a pity in terms of its classical collection the last time I visited ...

Not sure if you have visited any Borders lately.  My local Borders store was a pity in terms of its classical collection when I last visited ...

The Alwyn disc is a very good buy, and the performance is excellent.

You'll likely be even more impressed when you hear the performances - the best Ariodante on the market.

Stuart, we don't have any Borders stores in Canada, at least not in Manitoba.  Perhaps in some of the larger cities like Toronto or Montreal?

I got my CDs at the McNally Robinson bookstore, which are awesome!  They actually carry a fairly decent classical music section.  Not great, but decent.  :)

I've only listened to the first quartet so far Harry, but really like it!  I'm telling ya.....the Maggini Quartet has never failed to impress me.  They really should have a huge box set of their own!  ;D  I know I'd buy it.

I would like to support the brick-and-mortar stores.  Unfortunately, they just do not carry the products I want.  I have given MDT hundreds of dollars in business since January.  I was a bit concerned initially about buying from across the Atlantic ...

I sneaked a quick half-hour preview (or should that be 'prelisten'?) earlier today, and I must say what I heard was superb, as you say.

Re-ordered this DVD today after a deadbeat Amazon MarketPlace vendor took my payment and never delivered the goods.  For all I know, the vendor could be belly-up since it is based in NY.  Things are getting pretty bad in the Big Apple ...

No problems.  I have come to really like these DVD's.  I get the video and the good audio is just icing on the cake.  I have about half-dozen of various Bach concerts on DVD conducted by the likes of Karl Richter, John Eliot Gardiner, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Herbert Blomstedt.  I love all of them.  This should be my first DVD on Bach Organ Works.
