Very nice, picked that one up for £14.47 at MDT last week.

MDT?  Good heavens!  (me too--sure hope they have it in stock)

Good news.  :)

They certainly have come through on a number of my orders in the past. As someone said about caiman, I find that MDT are either very good or very bad. My problem is that this experience is one that hits too close to home for me.

Just ordered the following CD's at MDT this evening ...

Harry

The second release from MP to Naxos, of these Symphonies.

Received this week:

Not having much luck in my CD-buying moratorium...but this issue seems much too promising to pass up, giving Podger and Huggett some serious competition. Mullova's journey to "the dark side" (period instrument and performance practice) is nearly complete.  8) Samples on onyx's website here.

A rather out-of-season purchase but I do like the way Alpha records voices and fortepianos.   Schoonderwoerd's last Schubert album "Kennst du das Land?" was a success in my accounts.
HIP for all and all for HIP! Harpsichord for Bach, fortepiano for Beethoven and pianoforte for Brahms!

Thanks for the samples.  Mullova is my favorite violinist, especially when taking the period instrument route.  I'll have to get this one.

Even better, Don:  I found full tracks on Rhapsody here.  I just listened to the Ciaccona.  I'd be pulling the trigger on the order now if I hadn't already.

By the way, since you have such good taste in both fiddlers and Bach, I'm wondering what you thought of Zehetmair's recording of these works?

Indeed, sublime.  I particularly love what he does with the glockenspiel in the fifth movement.  0:)
The man that hath no music in himself,
Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.
The motions of his spirit are dull as night,
And his affections dark as Erebus.
Let no such man be trusted.

Sorry to butt in, but Zehetmair is extremely good.

That Mullova poses a dilemma.  Should I get it for £15.10 on MDT, or wait 2 months for the US release and pay $43.98?  If only I knew what sort of chatter the NSA is picking up on their wiretap between MDT and their distributor in Kandahar?

Just get it straight from Onyx. :P

David - just added that Mullova 2-CD set to my wish list; only have the older recording (inserted above) of these works, which I've owned for ages, so need some 'new blood' added to this part of my Papa Bach collection - in fact, I've been buying more of this gal's work on 'period' instruments.  Curious if anyone may know 'how' Onyx is packaging this dual disc set?
Thanks all - Dave  :D
