Karl,

Let me know how you feel about Tippett"s TRIPLE

Very much enjoyed my introductory listen;  I need to spend more time with the piece, Robert.

I ordered this one in an impulse.

Heard somebody say that the Elegy is great. Is anyone familiar with this composer and/or this recording?

Quite enjoyable, I prefer his Trio for flute, violin and viola, sonata for clarinet and piano, sonata for solo violin MP 8.223727 much more inventive......

Harry,

I hear alot of mixed feelings about Pavlova. I do not own anything by her....What say you?

Let me say it this way Robert, I could not stop listening to it, when the first one came out, and it is still that way. Like with the Sallinen this afternoon, it was hard to let go.
Thumbs up for me.

That a lot of piano music my friend! ;D
Cannot have enough KV466es, Harry! And I badly needed his Debussy preludes and, well, I like his style.
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

Robert, do you know more about the man? I never heard of him apart from the recommendation of this disc on the old GMG board.

I must quickly get that work out!!!Haven't heard it for quite some time  - Some magical music in there! (For lovers of subtle percussion!!!) The slow movement is very exquisite

Martin Anderson (the music critic) was a very good friend of his....About 10 years ago  he wrote an extensive article about him. I will try and dig it up.....

It's very good, and comes with a clean and delightful reading of the First, as well.

Fetched these in at Border's this morning:

Two-disc Milhaud VoxBox:

Saint-Saëns, particularly for Phaéton and Le rouet d'Omphale — Omphale is a queen, it seems, though we don't know if Luke has scoped her out  8)

And this just landed in the mailbox:

Ravel, Prokofiev, Schubert

I have this set.  The litttle symphonies are delightful works, and there's a lot of stuff crammed onto this set.
