He's doing it with the CSO in September in Chicago as well (+ Tchaikovsky 6th and Hindemith Nobilissima visione).

Overall I like that program much better than the one here, even though I do like Andsnes:

Soloist: Leif Ove Andsnes
Conductor: Riccardo Muti

Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 2
Liszt: From the Cradle to the Grave
Scriabin: The Poem of Ecstasy

Have not hit the Finalize button yet, but I'm about to... I think

The fourth one is $20.00 used, plus looks like a piano, violin, cello arrangement. So I guess I'll find a better alternative with the original instrumentation  before I place the order $:)

The first three should be available at eclassical:

yep, thanks George, but each CD comes to $8.50, amazon sellers offer them for around $9-$10
but of course, there is the shipping as well.  ::)

I wonder if his Schubert is worth acquiring from this set:

@rubio,
while I love everything else his Schubert doesn't impress me.

Harry

Carpe Diem, a unknown label for me, but with some very interesting music on it.

Harry

And yet another intriguing release.

The new erato

Am seriously considering this.

Sergeant Rock

Ordered this from amazon.de on Wednesday....it arrived a few minutes ago:

Only cost €29.95 (ten Euro cheaper than JPC). Free shipping. The box holds 22 CDs but it's only 55mm wide. Nice.

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

My copy arrived today from amazon.de as well (€31.18 -vat +shipping).
Nice indeed, only one big drawback - no texts nor libretti are included  >:(

Your're right. No texts. Still, for the price I guess we can't expect everything...well, I can expect everything but I'm not surprised when I don't get it all  :D

Very lucky Sarge you don't live in the UK, I should have ordered mine from Germany...but UK have free delivery which makes it cheaper...but they also have a stock delay and its only coming on the 27th July, I will have to wait a few weeks longer.  Should be well worth the wait nevertheless  ;D

The new erato

This set is very cheap. Why not increas the price by 10% and include the texts. That would double the value of the set. I don't understand the classical record business, no womnder the majors are in such deep s..t.
