A few, especially the Fuchs, is a very important release for me!

I'm still looking forward to the first Serenades disc! I know. I'm slow.... :(

If you have listened to the first CD, you need the second most urgently, such is the beauty of the music Neal! And its not as if these Naxos releases are expensive, right? ;D My avatar agrees with me, see how urgently he is tapping his tiny claws.

Bought two more Strauss opera recordings:

Bought for $10.

[asin]B000001GMO[/asin]

Bought for $14.

A general request: please try to avoid posting the same items twice. So post either when ordered, or when delivered - not both times.

I personally do the former since when receiving the items, a post in the Listening thread is in order. 8)

This might come as a shock to some of you, but during the past week I have embarked on the painstaking task of buying my first ever Haydn string quartet recording. Not an easy task I assure you.  Through spotify, friends, youtube etc.etc. I was able to sample many recordings.  A few stood out, the Mosaiques (incomplete), the Aeolian and surprising the Angeles sets! The Mosaiques is "incomplete" which I felt did not really justify the prices it was going for.  I found the Aeolian (the cheapest of the bunch) a bit too bright for continued sustained listening. I was drawn to the "sweetness" in tone of the Angeles set. Complaints of sound "reverberations" and "echos" and stereo imaging "issues" from some amazon.com respondents were hardly relevant.

HMV had a few of the Angeles sets on sale at £50 and with my HMV points I was able to get it for £45!  So there you have it, I am now the proud owner of this:

I don't know though. As addicted as I am to multiple recordings, I might remain happy with what I have now.

Continuing my tradition of following the trend (only if it's a good trend, of course) I purchased some more Schnittke, and have some more in my wish list ready for purchasing.

Mmm, another one I like, Greg.

Karl, did you ever find which Scnittke Requiem you own?

Karl Henning

Oh, I didn't check, Greg . . . nor shan't be able to, until Thursday evening. But, I shall try to remember! : )

Excellent, Sadko. I hope you enjoy it! I know I have. Do you own any of the other Prokofiev/Jurowski CPO recordings?
