Thankie my friend, very helpful, although the reviews did not help me much.

Well, I can tell you number nine is rather zippy and lots of people had a problem with that. But Mackerras claims these are authentic tempos.

Well I will dig my feet into it, and consider the Hyperion recordings also.
Thanks dtw.

Would love to get some input about Norrington, and info about the Mackerras recordings with the liverpool orchestra, seems to be OOP, only found the Hyperion recording, but the price is rather steep.

The Hyperion set is just $10 per disc; not bad at all for new recordings.

True, but I really do not know what to expect. I find the Liverpool recording not that good, and how the situation is with the Scottish Orchestra he uses on Hyperion, I don't know.
Have some info about it Don?

How do you find these recordings Johan. I have the Chandos recordings, first love, bought them when they came on the market aeons ago.

Goeienavond, Harry! I bought those Brydon Thomson discs too, in the 'eighties. To be even more exact - I bought cassettes at the Tower Records shop, in London, Piccadilly...

I downloaded this one from classicsonline. An excellent performance!

My personal Bax favourites, btw: First, Second and Third. But, as I now discover to my delight, later Bax is just as good, I think I have to return to the other symphonies for a reassessment...

Superb!

Yeah, those are two classics that I have been meaning to get. Got them both on sale.  :)

My purchases yesterday.
Some sad leftovers from the now defunct label ARCANA... :'(

Other bargains:

And I eyed   :o the box set with Callas' complete studio recordings and the Stravinsky box set..... :o
I think any further resistance is futile.... 8)

Finally you've got it. :)

Yes I agree with Florstan, George.  That Berman Annees de Pelerinage is sublime and from what I understand one of the very few COMPLETE recordings out in the market.
