Listen What the Cat Dragged in & Collected Across Town:

D. Shostakovich
Symphony No.7
A.Nelsons / CBSO

Orfeo

German link - UK link

If that first movement doesn't make you smile, check your pulse.

I. Stravinsky*, 1, F. Martin*, A. Honegger+
Violin Concertos*, Pacific 231+, Rugby+, Circus Polka1
B.Skride / T.Fischer / BBC NO Wales

Orfeo

German link - UK link

The VC on the MDG recording is (surprisingly) superb... I prefer it (and the whole disc) to the Decca recording with Schneiderhan. Can this better it?

Gheorghi Arnaoudov, Georgi Minchev, Walter Steffens,
Arvo Pärt, Pawel Szymaski, Yannis Xenakis
Sonograms
A.Tosehva (piano), B.Bonitz (recorder)

Labor Records

German link - UK link

An album about "Mysticism, mathematics, musical watercolors, and virtuosity from Eastern Europe and Germany"

Very neat sounding, so far.

Was a bit bummed that the early Beaux Arts Trio LvB Piano Trios were a premium price on cd at this time.  I really wanted to hear them with Daniel Guilet.  Vinyl to the rescue:

$10 in minty shape:

for 13 more bones, grabbed this set as well:

Placed the order on the following set with the i-Deals Store on Amazon US yesterday for $17.10 (including the $2.98 shipping).  What a fabulous price!

That was my first exposure to the op 76. The first disc was so good, I just had to listen to the second one right way.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I have all the Gaudeamus recordings.  Has this label gone into an incarnation or merged with another label?  I don't believe I have seen any new releases from this label for some times ...

The new erato

Gaudeamus is a label of ASV. The ASV story is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASV_Records

Listen What the Cat Dragged In:

Gottfried August Homilius
St. Mark Passion
Basel Madrigalists, L'arpa festante / Fritz Näf

Carus

German link - UK link

World Premiere Recording. Tremendously beautiful opening Chorale as I type.

Johann Philipp Krieger
Musicalischer Seelen-Frieden
Dorothee Mields / Hamburger Ratsmusik / S.Eckert

Carus

German link - UK link

There just can't be enough Dorothee Mields to go around, as far as I am concerned. After Love's Madness (#1 Best of 2012), this is her latest.

(Traditional)
Makh tsu di Eygelekh
Yiddish Songs
Helene Schneiderman / G.Payer

Carus

German link - UK link

Based on one song that H.Schneiderman had recorded for the awesome "Christmas Songs" and "Lullabies" and "Folk Songs" series of SWR & Carus (which is so good, I want to have children because of it, pronto, just so I can expose them to it).

Interested on your thoughts when you give a listen, or are they already posted at your link?  I need a Mark on the shelf.

No, they're not. But I'm six tracks into it now, and I'm in love with Homilius already!

Carus is by far the busiest label in bringing this composer to justice and I have a good number, though not all, of those recordings. But none have clicked so immediately, so strongly as this! I'm quite excited as I listen. Track 7 now.
