Octave

I think the Monk solo album Octave mentioned is part of the set I ordered, but I'll have to wait for it to land before I can confirm it.

I have not looked at those jazz boxes closely, but iirc they are mostly/all Columbia/CBS/Sony releases, without any Riverside/OJC releases.  (I could be wrong!)  Monk's ALONE IN SAN FRANCISCO is on Riverside/OJC.  AISF is not for completists only, by any means; but it also probably won't convert you to Monk, if you don't dig the later solo recordings included in that box you bought.
Also worth seeking out is the little bit from Peter "P.D.Q. Bach" Schickele's radio show (?) where he gets a classical pianist to play a transcription of a Monk solo piano performance.  I am not entirely into music gags, but that one was funny and a bit profound.  I found the results more fascinating than ridiculous; I'm sorry I don't have a link handy, it's been years....

Arrived this morning, Fey's 94 and 104, volume 1 actually of his ongoing cycle. I'm caught up now and waiting eagerly for the next installment.

  J.S. Bach
Suites 4, 5, 6 BWV 1010, 1011, 995*

*995 is Bach's own transcription listed under the lute pieces, rather than 1012 in Hopkinson Smith's transcription.
(jewel case, re-issues from 1980 and 1992... which may explain the different art work and casing!)

  J.S. Bach

Jens, Hopkinson Smith's Bach is great, I've got two copies of this set (one was lost in mail for 3 months, so Amazon sent me another one. It's waiting for me finding a friend who enjoys good music...)

Nice! Great recording, Karlo. I don't know if I like Rozhdestvensky better or Dausgaard...they're both so good.

The Langgaard is great fun, too!! Enjoy. And yes, Hopkinson Smith is wonderful, though the sound on the Lute Work disc could be better.

The one I'm listening to now is splendid, with a little white noise listened on too-good headphones at too-high a volume. :-)

Thanks, will do. (I know the piece from Youtube)

Could be better, certainly, what with the close-miking making the plucking and fingerboard hand movement audible, and there is quite bit of hiss. But these 'issues' sure haven't bothered me. I sure wouldn't mind getting these new recordings myself.

Uh oh.

I ordered mine the day after yours.  Their website then listed it as being in stock.
Yesterday they sent me an email notifying me that the two CDs I ordered with the Solti set had been sent out, but for the Solti set:

We are awaiting delivery of the following and will despatch it as soon as we receive it:

I haven't gotten a further email like you did,  but since I ordered a day later, I assume it will come down the pipe sooner or later...

If you don't mind, could you post or PM me when they actually ship your copy (or cancel it or whatever)?

Bought on impulse provided by Sarge.   Let's see if I'm more enthusiastic about this CD than the installment of Fey I already have.

In this episode of The Lord of the Symphonies, we witness  Frodo as he contemplates the hazards brought on by invading England.
