I found Wand's Luebeck Bruckner 8th on Ebay today:

A last I have this recording.

Is this one a difficult one to come by PW as I still need an 8th?  I have Wand's 3rd and enjoy it a lot.

I got it for $14 on Ebay. I know it is available as a CDR on Archiv but I don't want the CDR. The one on Ebay is the original release. I know, same digital information but I am a bit "old school".

And Bill, if you need a B8 there are TONS of excellent recordings out there. To start you may want the EMI/Seraphim Maazel 8th with the Berlin PO which brand spanking new you can get for $6.

Thanks for that.  I was leaning toward the Giulini 8th, but GBJGZW's description intrigued me.  Guess it's time to do some sampling.

The Giulini is a bit slow but he brings out the grandeur of the music very well. The Adagio is probably the best I have heard with some unbelievably good playing by the Viennese horn section.

Incidentally if you ever stop by Academy recently I see a few copies of the Giulini (new and remastered release) selling for $12 so it is definitely worth picking up.

I have always been wary of Caiman (92 percent positive rating). Ever have any problems with him?

Most of my stuff (including Wagner) comes from Newbury Comics, whom I most highly reccomend.

Haffner, I have not had a any problems with Caiman-  my experience has been that when they advertise something low price they usually have it......I of course could be wrong on this.

I've found Caiman okay, but man, do they take their time delivering. ::)

I have had some bad luck with Caiman: The Bertini Mahler set and the Jansons DSCH set both came with defective CDs. They did refund my money but you just have to shake your head.

I now refuse to buy outside of mainland Europe, and will happily wait for UK/European sellers to greatly reduce their prices before parting with my money.

The prices look good, but we in the UK get slapped with hefty tax duties on top ... these greatly alter the total cost of the purchase. Example? The DG Collectors Edition of Gidon Kremer: bought from Newbury Comics for something like £12, but I got stung for another £7.50 before my postman would even deliver it to me. :'( Had I hunted around more on UK or European sites, I could've shaved pounds off of the final cost.
