I enjoyed the Chopin discs quite a bit.  :)

Solitary Wanderer

I've just received the book Berlioz's Memoires. I bought it on Amazon but didn't notice it was in French! I [wrongly] assumed I was getting the English translation  :(

I will need to return this and try again  >:(

Erato, I would be very interested in your findings about this box.
Had my eye on it also....

The new erato

I've listened to CD 1 in background mode. Good sound, and the performances seemed clear and pure (FWIW). No booklet, but a CD-ROM which I haven't tried is included.

Some goodies arrived today 8).

Karel Sejna's Martinu symphony no. 3 (anybody heard Sejna's Dvorak symphonies?):

Klemperer:

Some Beethoven by Szell:

Lilas Pastia

Symphonies 6 and 7 by Sejna: both are powerful and uniquely personal. Not as refined as Talich (7), but revelatory nonetheless.

This is the set I cut my teeth on...it's still the cycle that's closest to my heart. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Great finds!  Did you find those used?  The Sejna is the  best recording of the Double Concerto I've heard.

Yes, I found them both used at Amazon marketplace. The Klemperer was cheap and the Sejna a bit more expensive. I look forward to hear the double concerto!

One of the highlights of my recent purchases:

featuring the complete symphonies, the Manfred Overture, and the Violin Concerto of Robert Schumann as well as the songs of Clara. Can't wait to listen to them.

Bogey

Concerto for Piano no 2 in G minor, Op. 22 by Camille Saint-Saëns
Symphonic Variations for Piano and Orchestra, M 46 by César Franck
Concerto for Piano no 1 in E flat major, S 124 by Franz Liszt

Have only listened to the Saint-Saëns piece, but was VERY pleased with that alone.

Well I've already answered this earlier: "I've listened to CD 1 in background mode. Good sound, and the performances seemed clear and pure (FWIW). No booklet, but a CD-ROM which I haven't tried is included."

So the only thing I currently can add to your question is "It's rectangular".

Joking aside, I've listened somewhat more closely to CD nr 2 with (among others) The 4 voice Mass, and it seems like a mighty fine performance. This is the Signum recordings which I'm sure can be found at Gramophones Gramophile, Gramophone liked the series a lot (but then it's British Music).

This recording from 1959 made it on my list, and I ordered it.....
