Words of wisdom, Mr Rein, words of wisdom... But I just want to benefit a little from Harry's class and style  ;) There is nothing wrong with that, is there?

Here's a suggestion - why don't we all drop this infantile matter and return this thread to those who wish to post their "Purchases today." rather than arguing about who is a more intelligent, cogent writer, or whether "sophisticated rich guys" are inherently less honest (or more polite) than everyone else. Such matters can be pursued in the off-topic board, of course, or by personal message...
Seconded. I appreciate Ms many very good posts, but don't think that bickering about how anybody can afford to buy more records than others belongs here. I'm sure there are people having better cars, more beatiful wives, smarter kids etc etc than other, but cannot see the point of making that an issue in musical discussions.

That's not what we talked about here, erato. Reading comprehension issues?

M, you don't have to comment *every* post. You've spent so much time in SoCal, but you still have to learn how to just let things slide sometimes.  ;)

Right. We were talking about Harry being some "sophisticated rich dude" and you obviously neither. Did I read you right this time?

Dunno if I am allowed to say something here (see O Mensch's post above  ;D), but if you are curious, I wouldn't call myself rich but I make very decent money. Sophisticated? Probably not. Nah. I am much better than that. Most people just listen to orchestral music. I have played in a lot of good ensembles. That's much cooler.
Anyway, I am still waiting for instructions from Harry here. I find this quite interesting, actually, that a lot of people don't get upset when people make disrespectful and idiotic comments in a "discussion" rather than making arguments, but that the same people get totally upset when these other people get called out for their bad style. We had a similar discussion in another thread, I think it was that "Beethoven is the greatest" or "Beethoven is overrated" or whatever that was thread, and there it finally clicked with some that people who don't care to reply to what other people actually said or who show lack of respect for their discussion partners by completely ignoring arguments that have been made and who reply with some autistic nonsense instead are actually the rudest people, not those who call them by their well deserved names.
Sorry for the long sentence!

This looks most interesting: is it part of a complete set?

No, just a single disc.  Funny thing is that Praga already has recordings on the market of Zemlinsky's four string quartets.

I agree; however I prefer one with a smoother surface and less cracks. The chocolate chips are perfect though!  :D :D :D

Don,

Did you scoop this one off the internet (Amazon/Arkiv) or was it one of those freebies you often get?

Becoming proficient at an instrument is something to be proud of, in my opinion. I wish I still played trumpet.

I bought this one from ArkivMusic.  I consider every Zemlinsky quartet recording a must-have.

Just ordered from Arkiv another Bach Goldbergs from Burkard Schliessmann on the Bayer label.  It's rather pricey, being a 2 cd set, but I think this artist is fantastic.  His Schumann and Chopin recordings are among my treasures.

Yeah, but being an arrogant **** and looking down on others and criticizing them for not being up to one's own level isn't.
