Just bought that, too, but haven't had a chance to dig in yet.

The re-release is cheap, only £22 quid here, and is in a nice box. Thats two good reasons enough!

Hmmmmm...........mine was about $90 (with a discount, about $85).  I did love the casing and all of that that.  Very well put together (reminded me of the Ozawa set of Prokofiev symphonies).

Would love to get the Barshai set to compare it to.

Michel

Barshi is $30 inc postage over here. I am more than happy to ship it to anyone who wants it in the states. I would suspect Airmail would be about $8, but could check. Would $38 be cheaper than you lot can buy it for?

So, you went for it. The JPC price scared me off. Be sure to issue a full report once it arrives.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Well, as I said, if anyone wants the Barshai, I reckon I can do it for $38. But I will check postage costs and get back to you'll.

It's really no fair comparison... ;D

What label on this one Michel?  Thoughts?
There will never be another era like the Golden Age of Hollywood.  We didn't know how to blow up buildings then so we had no choice but to tell great stories with great characters.-Ben Mankiewicz

I think I got it for $25-30, so I guess Don is right, prices have gone up, oh well it happens.  It might be cheaper then to order it from the UK! :D  The shipping prices will not be the same as the subtotal. ;D

The Feeney Dracula music is quite good. Feeney is also featured in another Naxos disc with english ballet scores.
