Brian, Que, it's in store at Archambault, the Quebec music stores chain. I haven't checked their website but usually these special offerings are limited to the stores. I *think* these are pre-2007 issues. If you're interested, I'll go and check what's on sale (about 2 dozen titles) and report.  We can always arrange a shipment  ;)
Thank you for that generous offer, but unfortunately being the poor chap I am, I do not need the added temptation. If the sale were online I likely would have ogled and then had second thoughts anyways ... something to do with the overdrawn checking account...

But I do very much appreciate the offer!  :)

Yes!

Finally, a new copy available for less than [far too much] - directly through Amazon.de, to boot.

This is a Brahms 3rd I've been "stalking" for at least two years.

Wow, that is a good find, Renfield! I've been enamored with this set for ages. Should provide many hours of quality listening.

Interesting. I see the Fourth is in a different twofer, though, coupled with the Tennstedt renditions of Ein deutsches Requiem and Schicksalslied.

My first experience with Enescu, so I am excited about that.  I heard part of one of the Romanian Rhapsodies on the radio yesterday (forgot which one) and like it.  It's also my first experience with Melartin.

Weinberg, Atterberg, and Schnittke I've had good previous experiences with, and hope I like those CDs as well :)

I had my first encounter with Enescu just recently. I started with the violin sonata numbered 3 (on YouTube).  I would not say that it was love with first listen, but there were moments I liked here and there. Hope you have a fun time listening to his music.

Have you tried Enescu's Octet and Piano Quintet (or quartet), I can't remember?  I particularly enjoyed the PQ.

Not yet. They were recommended, the octet and the piano quintet.

Picked this up on my way home, not sure what to expect but parallels between it and Verdi's Requiem have been made....let's put it this way if it is anywhere near as good at Verdi's masterpiece I should be happy:

Quite a different creature to the Verdi, Marvin;  and I look forward to your impressions!
