I agree, David.

But there is another super bargain: the Leonhardt/Harnoncourt set (only the sacred cantatas). It costs $209.09 on Cd Universe:

I paid significantly less for it at MDT early this year ...

I've been eying that Prokofiev. Thanks for the recommendation on it. :)

I've been wanting to 'fill out' my collection of Prokofiev's Piano Sonatas for a while when this review in the new issue of the ARG appeared; apparently on doing some web searching, Ms. McDermott has been impressing many lately w/ these performances, esp. in concerts.

The reviewer in the ARG is James Harrington - just some snippets from his review:  "Anne-Marie McDermott jumps to the top of the list with this new set"; "this set is a must have"; "Very few recordings elicit loud spoken superlatives from me while listening in private, but this one did.."; "...with a 30+ page booklet containing a good short biography and very detailed, comprehensive notes on all the sonatas, and you have a release not to be missed."

Lookin' forward to hearing this set!  :D

This quality issue is self recommending, nichtwahr? ;D  RE:  Raff Symphonies!

Harry - I just have two discs of this composer's music, chamber works (on CPO & MDG) - really enjoy; but I've not heard the Symphonies so will be looking forward to your comments.  BTW - where is this box available?  Dave  :)

:)

Because MDT ran a significant discount early in the year, around February.

I'm getting horny already  ;D

Overtures to Rienzi, Meistersinger and Holländer. I also ordered Païta's other Wagner CD, excerpts from Götterdämmerung. That arrived today:

I should have ordered the Tristan from this source too--I'd have it today--but I found it a little cheaper elsewhere.

Sarge

I wasn't aware those had been issued on cd!

Just placed a small order with an Amazon MarketPlace vendor on this CD to complete my WTC by Ralph Kirkpatrick ...

I think we need to take this to another thread. My purchases are getting buried.  ;D

Festive Overture only; Metamorphosen only

... dang, didn't realize, but that was a LOT of music to download in one day! And a ton of music for $80. Almost makes me feel sad that I am canceling my eMusic subscription now. :(

Brian,   I just ordered this physical disc from MDT last week.    ;D

The new erato

Italian romantic opera is quite a bit from the top of my listening lists, but I've always liked Pappano (have his Massenets and the Trittico), and need a recording with topnotch sound of this to supplement my Tosanini on LP and Giulini on CD. At last there's no Boccelli here.

Added this highly praised disc since I don't own this repertory.

A handful of Janacek:

Durch alle Töne tönet
Im bunten Erdentraum
Ein leiser Ton gezogen
Für den der heimlich lauschet.

Bartok- Piano Concerto No.3, Three Burlesques Allegro barbaro, Suite Op.14, Dezso Ranki piano, Hungarian State Orchestra Janos Ferencsik.

We all do, but we usually don't make it so obvious...  ;)
