Additions to my Kyung-Wha Chung mini collection.

Not to nitpick, but her Bartok violin concertos could had been bought in a 2-CD release with the piano concertos (w/ Ashkenazy on piano) for super cheap. Georg Solti is the conductor in this set.

By the way, do you own any of Bartok's piano concerti recordings? If you don't, then I might have to strangle you. :D

:D ;D - Yes I know the set you mean: I checked the prices just then as I thought I may have ripped myself off but as it happens I got the Bartok VC's for less than the Concerto set  :).
I really like the Bartok PC's and have the Disc by Kovacevich/Davis for them - great Disc, I will put that one on again next I think!.

But the concerto set (on Decca) has both violin and piano concertos. Disc 1 is all of Bartok's PCs with Ashkenazy on piano and Disc 2 is, of course, Chung performing the VCs.

I own all the Bartok PC recordings now and the Kovacevich/Davis is great. My favorite so far is the Anda/Fricsay and Ashkenazy/Solti. I haven't heard Schiff/Fischer or Bavouzet/Noseda yet, but that is only a matter of time. :D I was less impressed with Boulez's recording with three different pianists (Zimerman, Grimaud, I forget the other pianist).

Harry

Today I pulled the trigger for this set, because JPC lowered the price to 30 euro's. The set sounds fantastic, and the performances are without par.

Brahmsian

This one includes Shostakovich's Piano Quintet in G minor (Ashkenazy/Fitzwilliam SQ)

The Gergiev Nutcracker recording is quite good. I look at as the Nutcracker On Speed because it's probably the fastest I've ever heard it played. :)

Let me know how that Dorati 2-fer of various Tchaikovsky orchestral works is. I own Dorati's The Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker, but I would be interested in hearing his take on some other works.

Sure will, MI!  I've heard the Gergiev Nutcracker before on more than one occasion and really, really love it!  It is fast paced, and a tremendously energetic performance.  :)

Just received in the post.

On the way...

Some more Koechlin that I didn't own. I already own the full recording of The Jungle Book with Zinman conducting and this Segerstam recording isn't the full work, but it's most of the composition.

Landed today.

Guess what I'll be doing this weekend?  8)

As well as this:

I have very few of these recordings (apart from some of the Sibelius and Nielsen on LP) and perhaps the Copland.

The new erato

And ,thanks to Harry, also this:

Harry

Thanks to Erato I saw a double with music from Chabrier, done by Plasson, so I ordered it, together with both Volumes of Halvorsen, I could not resist this music any longer, its simply overwhelming.

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.
