Not really a Purchase Today, so to speak; but rather an acquirement today.

Just won this 170 Mozart cd set in last months BBC Music Magazine competition!!  Entered a couple of times and the entry for my Mother in Law, Sheila won the set.

She was on the phone this morning saying "Did You enter Me for a Competition".  I had forgotten all about it...."Well", She says..."You've just won"

LOL

A cat-dragging, so to speak! Now you have a BBC cat. Not a bad one to have, I reckon. Congrats.

Outstanding disc there, erato.  One of my favorite purchases in recent times.

And cheap; Chandos is offloading some 200 titles by various UK webshops. Still on for some couple of days. I'm completely blank on Rozsa, a couple of Rota discs OTOH the last few months have blown me away; hope this is as good.

mdt, europadisc (at least) .co.uk of course.

Several interesting titles.

Just got this. I'll be interested in hearing it since I haven't heard much music by Boccherini, apart from that famous minuet...

Just came in as a gift from JPC, for the custom I gave them in 2010.

Hi Sid - if not already done (and assuming that you like the disc above), check out the Boccherini thread HERE - plenty of recommendations -  :)

Thanks to the members who alerted me to the 50th anniversary 50-disc box of the Liège Philharmonic.
It arrived this morning.    Bought for €42.43 incl shp, now €168.99 at amazon.fr.

Latest buys...

Maya Homburger (baroque violin) and Malcolm Proud (harpsichord) - Bach Sonatas BWV 1014-1019
Homburger has a wonderful dark tone, almost like a viola in her lower register. Proud plays a full-voiced, slightly "clicky" harpsichord. (I bought a download, so no liner notes.)

Franz Danzi - Wind Quintets played by the Reicha'sche Quintet; Quintets for Piano and Winds played by Schornsheim/Reicha'sche
The Quintet plays period instruments and Schornsheim plays fortepiano.

Just bought two more Bluebeard's Castle:

[asin]B0000026NQ[/asin]

I've heard this recording is another frontrunner for best Modern performance. Can't wait to hear it.

[asin]B002C8BQMO[/asin]

Can't wait to hear what Gergiev does with the score.

[asin]B004DKDO3I[/asin]

Hurwitz didn't particularly care for this recording, but I really like Colin Davis and him conducting Nielsen is a rarity (this recording marks a new Nielsen cycle), so I don't think much could go wrong here.
