The new erato

You're all to blame (well, somebody more than others!). You know who you are, and consider yourself duly warned.

Prestoclassical this time.

While I've got a lot of Richter, the only real repetition will be the LvB Op 109-111 I believe. I'm looking forward to hearing his Russian Schubert.

Is the GIlels Op 13, 27/2 from that famous 1960s concert in Moscow. If so, why no Appassionata?

Anyway, at about 64 Australian cents per CD (I included shipping) I can't really go wrong can I? Even if only a quarter of the CDs are worth listening to I've still got a bargain. So thanks to Stingo for posting this in the Super duper cheap bargains thread.
Cheers

My favorite purchase of 2010 by a long distance. So much great stuff in there - a treasure chest. If you like Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, the Kogan account is my all-time favorite. Or the Rostropovich Weinberg concerto - or Berman's blitz through various virtuoso works - or Gilels' Beethoven concertos - and the list goes on!

I've good things about this version of Glagolitic Mass, so it will be interesting to hear it. I'm going to try to slow my purchases down for the next couple of months. A lot of the recordings I want now are out-of-print and hard to find for a decent price, so I can wait around for those. Like I need any more CDs anyway.  :P

"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Stuart - will be curious about your comments on the Piano Works when you have a chance to listen & comment; currently I own 4 CPO discs of her works (chamber music & symphonies) and would like to obtain some more; we actually have a thread on Louise HERE - not too active so please post there if so inclined!  Dave  :D

Dave,  Absolutely.  I am intrigued by this female French composer ...

Found a cheap new copy. Wish there were more books like this ;_:
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

Sweet! Weird mix of composers though.

Indeedie, although if Valen and Holmboe were excluded, it would be a veritable who's who of musical cranks and outsiders.

I guess the order of names does not align with the order of photos. Otherwise, the one with the broadest smile would be Pettersson . . . .

:-) I think that's Sorabji, I remember his photos with round, thick and dark rimmed glasses.
