Sergeant Rock

A really tough day for the hardest working woman in the Bundespost:

Now I have to open them all.

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Take time to consider how best to tackle the job, Sarge. And hire help if necessary.

I hired a couple of Scotsmen who are touring Germany on a working holiday. Only set me back a few dozen Euro. But it was worth it. They got rid of the packaging too  8)

In those packages: 33 CDs and 7 DVDs (all Laura Antonelli films: I'm rather smitten by this Italian legend). The CDs: the Mozart String Quartets performed by my beloved Quartetto Italiano. Haydn Quartets by the Amadeus. The keyboard works of Haydn in an edition that has been much discussed in Gurn's Haydnista thread. Some Wim Mertens pop/minimalism recommended by Marc. And some Indian classical (Ustad Ali Akbar Khan) that gave JdP multiple orgasms.

The new erato

I wonder if the Gran Concerto issues (I noticed Arrau in Beethoven sonatas as well) is a specialty series for the Italien arket? Could be worth watching amazon.it then. Or did you buy from amazon.de Sarge?

No, I bought it from Amazon IT. The track listing in the booklet is in Italian only, e.g., Quartetto n.7 in mi bemolle maggiore KV 160/159a. (The informative liner notes are in English and Italian).  I think it is product aimed specifically at the Italian market. I haven't seen it for sale anywhere else. It was quite cheap even with the postage.

You could have hired a couple of Chinese for two Euros to do the same job.

Of course they will replace your CDs with pirated copies of the same works which they keep in their pockets. You won't know the difference for ages... well, weeks.
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Hmmm - did not know that this group released the Op. 20 works - I have their first two sets and enjoy, so will add the one below to my 'wish list' - :)

Just yesterday this group's three Haydn sets arrived at my home.

It's a relatively new release. And speaking of relatively new releases, these two arrived today from Arkivmusic

The Vivaldi is from the same ensemble with whom Rachel Podger recorded "La Stravaganza".

I need those DVDs, too: are they a box set, Sarge?

Laura Antonelli is one of my all-time favorite actress, too.

Favorite movie: Wife-Mistress, when she was already a lovely mature lady.

Laura Antonelli was certainly a hot number and will always be on film.  I have a few of her DVD singles but have never seen any box set in the States.  I first saw her on the silver screen in the mid to late 70's as a young man and she was such a turn on ...    :P
