Uncle Connie

Just noticed my own post:

"Hard to read?"  Make that "impossible."  Find it on Arkiv and it'll be more useful to you.

I have roughly over half of that set in a previous incarnation, and believe me, it is terrific. Yes, in the Mass in C minor or the Requiem the competition is fierce and the recordings here, though being very good indeed might be trumped. But concerning the rest and as a complete set this should be the best HIP choice. And at the price it is a steal! :o :D

That may be my après-Henningmusick treat, to-morrow evening, Nav.

Yes, I recalled your favorable opinion to order this set. Besides, generally speaking, I have a high opinion on Neumann; even I have another of his recordings in my wishlist: that attractive Johannes-Passion on MDG (1725 version).

Ordered last night at jpc:

Q

And now you can order the rest of EG's Boccherini recordings  :)

But the Fretwork is pretty darn good, too.

Meanwhile, I stopped at my local used CD storefront and naturally didn't walk out empty handed
The Mozart PI was $5.99*, all the rest were $2.99

The Komen I've been considering ordering off Amazon MP for a year now at least;  the Mozart for two pianos can be found at a local B&N brand new at full retail price;  I have no recordings of the Stravinsky,  and the Villa Lobos can be considered as supporting the local musicians (the New World symphony is based in Miami Beach, and this CD was recorded at the Performing Arts Center in Fort Lauderdale; the cover was photographed at a local Miami tourist attraction that has since then removed to a different location but is still open for touristing).

And also a double DVD package of the first two Harry Potter movies for $4.99.

ETA
*Lubin and the Mozartean Players in a PI performance of Mozart PCs 20 and 23 on the Arabesque label--the image URL seems to have disappeared into the cybervoid.
2nd ETA
and the image is now showing.  But I'll keep the footnote in place in case the image decides to be a Cheshire Cat and disappear again.

Unless it's part of a larger order,  the Amazon Italy shipping charge to the US actually makes it more expensive than it would be on Amazon US Marketplace.  But even then, it still seems fairly attractive...

ETA: that was posted before I saw the most recent post from Nav on the SDCB thread.

And as hinted at in the preceding post,  I found enough to make the shipping charge more reasonable, and pulled the trigger on these three:
