First holiday purchases, most inspired by GMG  :D
Splendid! I'm considering a Strauss Alpensinfonie but am on the wrong thread for that!

Ended up buying this one:

My lovely wife gave me money for my birthday early for music so I went a tad mad as per usual:

My favourite words in classical: "Molto vivace"

Yes, I'm shallow.

Very good choice for the Berlioz Requiem    8)

If you ever desire a second recording, Norrington with the SWR Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra is quite special.

My top choice for Berlioz's Requiem. Sir Colin Davis is still unmatched all of these years later IMHO.

Pounds the table for all the above.  Actually, pounds the table 7 times for the Argerich box, since there's 7 CDs in that set.

Don't think anything negative about the two for which I did not pound the table,  I should add.  It's just that I don't have them....

You are absolutely correct.  When it comes to works of Berlioz, Colin Davis is still second to none ...

Some assembly required. ;)

That is a given since a fully assembled unit is unlikely to arrive intact ...

There are at least a couple posters who rave about this. Good music and good musicians, so I cannot imagine it being a dud.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Based on Camel Camel, the price took a bit of a dive on Amazon so I took the plunge not to let it pass :

I bought this set from MDT or Presto Classical last year at a great price.  The performance was excellent IMO ...

Just placed two small orders this very hot Sunday afternoon with two Amazon MP vendors ...
