After hearing the trailer on yotube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3-SQg4VeWE, I think I must buy a new Bach's harpsichord concertos album.

Heard it, never owned it. Put an end to that dismal state now, finally. Off someone who sold it for a very fair price, because he preferred his Janowski and Levine recordings of the Ring. De gustibus, my word! I would have given both of those Rings for Karajan's. I don't mind Janowski... but it's not Karajan.

I wish I could be as enthusiastic about this Ring as you were  :(.  For what its worth I have Levine's Ring on DVD and I much prefer the audio on the Levine DVD recording, which is also out on CD,  than Karajan's Ring cycle. Oh well, different strokes for different folks as they say!

It is not, as far as I am aware.

They're different.  The studio recording was made in the Manhattan center, and there are differences in the cast.

There is a fair amount of overlap, they aren't that radically different. The cast remains stronger than the Karajan Ring IMHO.

My point is: I really can't get into the Karajan Ring like others can.

From German Amazon. It feels strange to pay more for shipping than the product...

This got canceled.

Took some time but finally bought this one, £3.40 delivered (used, Amazon.co.uk marketplace). I have the Naxos of this work but I was told in this forum some years ago that some instruments aren't audible and the performance isn't the greatest. If this Klemperer sucks then I stop trusting people of GMG.  :P

Also, I made an order from mdt.co.uk: Bach's cantatas volume 49 + secular cantatas volume 2 (BCJ/Suzuki) before the offer prices end.

I tried to order one Weckmann dics at amazon.fr (low price) but they were unable to charge my credit card (works fine elsewhere). After 3 days of frustration and translating french to english I canceled the damn order.  >:(
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

You will not be disappointed my friend, its a marvelous set, and luckily not that expensive. And for the record, my credit card is hiding itself for years, but I always find it back. Its very much afraid too ;D

I do hope you enjoy this. I have around 15 recordings of the Missa Solemnis and this is in my top three.

Klemperer is one of the greatly famous accounts, and in its own way great, but that doesn't mean one needs to like that approach. Especially if you find the Brahms Requiem a little tedious to begin with. Among the old and dusty accounts (a.k.a alleged "golden age"), I find Kempe and only Kempe truly satisfying. Or Lehmann I suppose. I'd like to say Harnoncourt , but I'd lie if I said that I find his Brahms Requiem, despite my favorite singers being involved, as immediately (haven't listened to it that often yet) engaging as, say, his Mozart Requiem or his Verdi Requiem which are modern standards.
