That first Wuorinen I know and like quite a bit; I think I like another Tzadik release of his music, LEPTON, even more.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to check out the whole Naxos series, though all I know so far is the one with the STRING QUARTET #1 and PIANO QUINTET #2 (Brentano Quartet, Peter Serkin, etc), which I also liked a lot.

JPC gifted me this disc as a token of appreciation for the business I gave them. Now isn't that nice. ;D

Que

Seemed like a cute disc to be had as a bargain (not online).  :)

Thread duty:
the postman brought something today, but I wasn't home, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to pick it up at the Post Office and find out which one of the three overseas orders it was (Amazon France; Amazon Spain, Prestoclassical).

Update:  it proved to be from Amazon France:
--Celibadache's Bruckner on EMI (Symphonies 3-9, Te Deum, a mass, and rehearsal tidbits from 9)
--Solti conducting Mozart Operas, with an extra disc devoted to Solti playing Mozart as pianist:  a violin sonata, a piano quartet, and PC 20 with the English Chamber Orchestra

The Marriage of Figaro (if it is the one with Te Kanawa/von Stade/Ramey/etc) is the best on the market in my opinion (of those I've heard, but very few have such a good overall cast from top to bottom). It has brought me incredible pleasure and enjoyment. And it's so funny!
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

As a matter of fact, that's why I got this set (yes it is the one you're referring to).  I had Solti's Figaro early on in the dawn of the CD age, but it fell victim to dried out styrofoam, and I've been meaning to get it again if a reasonable price ever came up for it.    The rest of the recordings are merely lagniappe in comparison.

Well, I wanted another 'complete' Debussy set of piano works & the one w/ Ogawa seemed like a good choice - best price that I could find was @ MDT, but had to order other items to justify shipping, so 20 total discs below for just over $100 (including S/H) - the 4 items w/ * recently recommended in Fanfare; wanted another complete PT symphony cycle; the last one was 'take a chance' - Dave :)

Bach, CPE - Keyboard Sonatas w/ Belder - 3 CDs*
Benda, Frantisek - Violin Concertos w/ Ivan Zenaty & Prague Philharmonia*
Debussy, Claude - Noriko Ogawa - 6 CDs*
Gernsheim, Friedrich - Violin Sonatas w/ Stefan & Andreas Kirpal  - 2 CDs*
Tchaikovsky, Peter - Symphonies et al w/ different conductors - 7 CDs
Wranitzky, Paul - String Trios w/ Ensemble Cordia

The Wranitzky was a enormous let down Dave. Swimming sound, and devoid of any infectious charm.

I have no recording of the Callas/De Sabata Tosca and wanted to rectify that.  But which transfer?  A Google query just uncovered the usual nest of vipers hissing at each other, so I settled on the cheapest, an MHS issue.
