With all the recent talk about the CD going extinct, I decided to take the plunge and I bought this album on iTunes for 7.99 Eur.

J.S. Bach - Brandenburg Concertos
Concerto Italiano, Rinaldo Alessandrini

I am not a big fan of the HIP fad, but this particular recording could possibly win me over. It sounds really good to my ears (unlike Masaaki Suzuki and his Bach Collegium.)

EDIT:  BTW, No. 1 in the Classical genre of iTunes Top Charts is Fifty Shades of Grey: The Classical Album.  Ugh. ;)

Nice haul, Paul except for the Verdi, which I loathe. :) I'm definitely considering that Hickox performance of Britten's Death in Venice. Monkey Greg highly recommended that recording to me not too long ago.

How are you coming along with Impressionism, Paul? Is it still a musical labyrinth for you or have you found a way through it?

I still don't like most of it.  There are a few pieces I like, but for the most part, it doesn't click with me.

It's okay, Paul. Not everybody likes the same things thankfully. There's so much music out there for all of us.

Not a labyrinth, just . . . a wash : )

What I might suggest, Paul — not that there's any hurry, nor absolute need, as there is so much wonderful music else out there — is the piano solo, and the chamber works, of the Impressionists. At once there is more delicacy, and more definition, in those media.

Also (a piece which is not really Impressionism): the de Falla Harpsichord Concerto.

I'll look into that piece, and follow your advice of what to listen to with the impressionists :)

Do you like ballet music, Paul? Have you listened to Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe or Ma mere l'oye? Since de Falla was mentioned how about The Three-Cornered Hat or El amor brujo? Check these out when you have the chance.

The Pfitzner CD has the Symphony in C major.  In more than 30 years of collecting, I've managed to miss the Paganini works.

I've played the The Three corner Hat, and Ma  Mere l'oye.  I enjoyed the De Falla far more than the Ravel.  I found the Ravel to be boring, but that may be because of my instrument :P  I did not care for daphnis et chloe at this point.

One of the most intriguing aspects of Impressionism from an instrumental standpoint is the increased usage of the woodwind section along with much more harp than usual. :) All instruments that I love.
