(....cause NY Times sold it to WNYC)

I listen to and support WNYC -- largely because of  WNYC2, a great HD channel that programs mostly "modern classical" (or whatever you want to call it). WNYC is relatively well engaged with the new music scene - both in NY and in general. WQXR will be moving from 96.3 to 105.9 (reclaiming the high end of the dial from the long absence of the the late great all-classical WNCN). The move may screw up reception for some listeners in the NY area. I listen to WQXR and WNYC on-line.

Man, I haven't thought about WNCN for many years . . . .

I will always miss WNCN, which was the first classical FM station I listened to when I first got into classical music.  My receiver dial was always set at 104.3 and played throughout the night.  I still have that receiver at my house.  I simply liked the hosts at WNCN a whole lot better than those at WQXR.
