Mandryka

Denisov Peinture -- feels to me like a French inspired piece, but not derivative or backward looking, just a feint echo of Debussy/Messiaen/Boulez/Dutilleux colours. Very good.

Le Brasier de Neige is a cycle of 24 songs. What I can say with confidence at the moment is that there's something special going on in it. Elena Vassilieva knows what she's doing, whether you like her voice is another thing, but there's no doubting that she's engaged with the music. (I'm sure I once heard her in War and Peace.)

The piano trio is one of those rare pieces - Beeth. Op 131 & Schub. Winterreise come to mind - which seem to redefine the possibilities of music.  Once heard it cannot be unheard.
