There is something absurd, ridiculous and divine in this. Every so often the 'small guy' wins. The life and career of the brilliant American organist Virgil Fox (1912-1980) is chiefly remembered for great live performances of Bach's music all across the USA and in Europe.  Doing more for musical independence and for the appreciation of Bach's sublime music than many, many textbooks and college lectures. A musical answer to the criticisms of Bach's own career and of the dominant musical jesuitry of Bach's own time and our own.

This rare film is in my view one of the great moments of 20th century concert performance.

Fox does have a big mouth in that video.  I was more impressed with the 5 year-old playing a Bach gigue.

Why, anyone who can learn by rote a piano piece at 5 must be a musical genius, right ? The 'next Mozart'. Ask Leopold Mozart. Goodness !!  Why, there are 20,000 Mozartean wanabees on Youtube from North Korea alone  !  :) :)

For myself, the phenomeon that is Bach is even more important. And that's real !! The most immense, the most clearly demonstrated and overwhelmingly miraculous gift to mankind in all of music. Greater than the man Bach himself. By far.

Take it easy tiger.  I was simply saying that I'd rather not watch a wind-bag do his thing.
