Now you say that, of course it wasn't napping! It was a stupid thing to say! ..(par for the course for me, I'm afraid  ) I just saw its little duck head tucked in to its belly like a cat and .. the stupidity filter doesn't kick in sometimes when I write quickly .. or even slowly sometimes .. I'm clearly ripe for the knacker's yard!

This distresses me! No, it was not a stupid thing to say, at all!! Just looking at the photo, it is hard to see what the bird is doing (aside from showing off its cute tummy).

I rather like the idea of a little duck tucked up like a cat to sleep; how sweet!! (Like most cats, it probably wouldn't like it if we ruffled its attractive little belly, though, darn it!!)

I'd offer you tissues, Elgarian, but we are nearly out; offspring brought crud with him. He and I are both down, and bonus kid has just this moment announced that he, too, is sick, despite precautions. We were going to have our Thanksgiving meal at a favorite restaurant today, but I'm pretty sure our only outing will be to pick up an order of tissues and other supplies.

Oh I am sorry to hear you're having a rubbish time too. We must swap viruses sometime, and compare notes. We too had to cancel a trip to spend the day with daughter no.2, but viruses control the planet now, and they said 'No'.

But we have (I have, actually) put up some nice Christmassy stuff in our window, to brighten up the gloomy wet evenings for passers-by carrying viruses. You want to see photo?

There are no birds in it, and these things are always sort of tacky, but there's a reindeer in it? Still want to see?

But if you have a little 4-year-old girl living across the way who pays no attention to such philosophical issues, but whose eyes light up like diamonds at the mention of Christmas, you tend to disregard any such reservations.

I mean... oh! Interesting!! I love pumpkin pie... well, pumpkin in general. The restaurant we were to go to serves Afghan food and has the most delicious pumpkin entree. So so SO good!!

Pumpkin is rarely served as a vegetable in the US, and I have no idea why that is. It appears as a veggie on many of the buffet tables at African lodges, and I am always happy to partake!

Oh I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to distress you at all!  It's just that on a moment's reflection it's obvious that if one was a duck and wanted a nap, you'd hardly roll on my side to do so when staying upright would be the far easier and more sensible option. Am grateful for your considerateness though. : )
