Who knew?

Quote from: David WatersAldrin's brief and private Christian service never caused a flap, but it could have. Aldrin has said that he planned to broadcast the service, but NASA at the last minute asked him not to because of concerns about a lawsuit filed (later dismissed) by atheist Madelyn Murray O'Hare after Apollo 8 astronauts read from Genesis while orbiting the moon at Christmas.

It's hard for me to believe that the guys in Apollo 8 read Genesis spontaneously, without prior approval from NASA. The agency was extremely PR conscious and all pubic appearances and statemetns were carefully monitored. But I've never read or heard anyting about it.

The irony is that space exploration helps debunking religious claims.

The irony is that you still believe that.

Poju, there are plenty of other threads for anti-religious snark;  take it there, lad.

Who are you to say that? It's a free forum isn't it? It's your own problem if you are "offended" by my anti-religious messages.

Why not believe that?

Because it reflects so poorly on you.  Because it is so frightfully stupid to claim that "space exploration helps debunking religious claims."

There.  To quote someone or other, I have found you an argument; I am not obliged to find you an understanding.

We live in an overscripted age now, but there was a time when people hadn't yet seen any need to script and control everything.
