What about Rin Tin Tin?  And Benjie?  And who could forget Old Yeller?

What about Fred MacMurray/the Shaggy Dog?

Or the best of them all: Blood, from A Boy and His Dog?

I could have edited the post to correct the spelling of Pomeranian, but as the dog used in the scene is not in fact a Pomeranian . . . .

Whart about the Zombie Woof, Karl?

Not quite the right classification, I think.

But we've got:

Frenchie

Evelyn (a modifed dog)

The dog whose breath is varied

The dog on the covers which Donald Roller Wilson provided for Francesco Zappa and Them And Us

Joe_Campbell

I nominate Snowy from Tintin.

I was about to correct that glaring omission myself.  ;)

I wish to add Jack (Rottweiler-Border Collie mix) and Kim (Lab mix), my dogs, both deceased (Jack 2002, Kim 2005), who were fantastic representatives of their species.

I don't have a dog.

Do cats count in this survey? Or goldfish?

Oh - or budgies?

Elgarian,

I have written in the past few hours (nice, broad time-frame, wot?) to the Moderators of the forum to stop a small group of disruptive members (and you know who you are!!) from mentioning budgies on threads. This thread is about '4 Great Dogs' and you are once filling it with non-canine domestic animals.

I ask you to withdraw your post from here. If not, I will send it (once again) to the Moderator for their own action. (Note the inconsistency of number, not only within this sentence, but between this sentence, and the first of the prior paragraph!  Possible conspiro-theory wiggle-room?  Read the book!  Check the olive oil!)

Thank You, and Have a Nice Day

I wonder how long it takes before posts a conspiracy thread about dogs and starts chiding us for not taking the thread seriously? ;D

So does this mean that budgies don't count, then?
