I'll try to make it 5 or else I'll be seriously craving:

1. Rosenthal (anything)... if i spend 20 dollars its going to be on a box set not one cd
2. Taneyev String Quartets (Leningrad Taneyev SQ) ... hard to find... is it oop?
3. Bruckner Symphonies (Wand)... somewhere around 85 right now... no way
4. Maria Yudina: Historical Russian Archives... we'll see... i think it can go lower
5. Norgard: Symphony No. 6 (Dausgaard)... too much for 1 symphony right now

There wasn't a box set (though there certainly should be one of his complete recordings) for him, his recordings are spread out over one 2 CD set on APR (in print), 2 volumes on Pearl (1 CD each) and 2 CDs on Biddulph. The Pearl has the best sound of the three and there's overlap between the three labels.

There's a great discography I found for him recently. Click here for it.

I actually meant that if I spend 20 dollars on something, it won't just be for one Rosenthal CD, so I'm patiently (or not) waiting for the prices to drop.

Thanks for the links.  Which of the above 3 do you prefer?

I saw that on ebay after I bought a used copy. I believe they have multiple new copies.

Can't do ebay, can't get paypal account I'm afraid. But that doesn't matter it's available from many online retailers. All CDs on that list are, that's why I said not counting oop stuff. On top of oop wishlist would be:

Samuil Feinberg's Scriabin disc on Arlecchino
Nelson Freire Miami recital on Audiofon
Scott Ross' complete Couperin on STIL

those proved completely impossible to find so far.

Oh, I see. I mentioned the ebay seller because the price was very good. I wasn't aware that you are unable to get Paypal.

Unfortunately, unless you find a copy used in the shops, or a seller on amazon who doesn't know the worth of their product, expect to pay at least 10.50 pounds, which is a good price IMO, direct from Pavilion. You can email them if you wish at pavilionrecords@hotmail.com with any questions. They are open M-Th and return emails daily. Their customer service is excellent.

As I said, Pearl has the best sound, but also the most surface noise. Pearl also has the most informative liner notes. Pearl II is better than Pearl I, IMO. APR is the quietest, but the piano tone is the least natural sounding, with pitch problems in the transfer, plus the recordings are from late in Rosenthal's career. The Biddulph CDs are perfectly fine, a bit quieter than the Pearl, but also missing some of the high frequency information too. I was able to get the Complete American Recordings on Biddulph (the better of the two) new for $5.99 on amazon, but consider myself very lucky to have grabbed this deal.

That deal doesn't look that bad.  It actually sells for 44 on Amazon now but it's blue instead of green.   ???

Definitely, considering that it's selling at $119 right now!

I know, those people are ridiculous! I went so far as to write a review of a CD that I want just to complain about the crazy price! The one I want is $132!  ::)

If I was Trump I wouldn't buy that damn CD.  >:(

Any recording by the original Vlach SQ on Supraphon

If you don't already have it, this Vlach/Beethoven Op.18 set is terrific.
Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

I might be able to help.

1. Are you decided on a full set? If so, I think you are limiting things too much.

2. Who are your favorite Beethoven, Mozart and Chopin pianists?

3. Are you averse to historical recordings?
