I knew there would be some people who haven't visited this site yet, so it's a good thing I posted this again.  ;D
Probably my favorite part of the site is the percussion section!  :o
There's some really, really useful info and examples that are generally hard to find- but great, effective ideas for orchestral writing at the same time.
A couple of my favorite examples include putting a cymbal upside down on a timpani head, then pedaling it- and also, bowing the side of a vibraphone, which I ended up using in an actual score.  8)
