Well, I believe that we had a similar thread on the old forum, so will repeat myself here - the same response -  :D

I purchased my first CD player during the holiday season 1984 (told Susan that when one went under $500, I'm buying in!) - the brand was a single-player Yamaha from a local electronics store - wanted at least a few CDs immediately but few were available, so picked up one of Amanda McBroom (pic below) - included her song 'The Rose' (made famous by Bette Midler) - now that CD is a quarter of a century old and still plays fine (as do virtually all that I've owned since that time).

Since then I've acquired more discs of Amanda - we love her singing; on a visit to New York City in the 1990s, we were able to see her 'in person' at the then (now closed) Rainbow & Stars room - had dinner, watched Amanda & her wonderful pianist, and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience!  Boy, we would love to repeat that date -  ;D

Ah, those days of fluffy hair.

I recently borrowed some 1984 CDs from the library. All were fine.
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

All my CDs sound as clear and crisp as the day I bought them.

My first CD purchase ever was in Spring 1990 (White Lion - Pride).  ;D

Glad I'm not the only sucker who bought that record. First cd I bought was Skid Row's debut, 1990 or so.
