Hi,

My name's Steve. I registered here basically because I'm looking for poeple to take an online survey on the role of YouTube in Classical Music.

I am part of a team of researchers interested in the implications of Communication and Information Technology (CIT) for Classical Music.
In particular we're looking at Classical music compositions being remixed and edited on forums such as YouTube.
We'd love it if members of this forum would take the time to answer some questions about this on our online survey.

Please go to: http://www.unisa.edu.au/management/research/CITandClassicalMusic.asp

There are a range of conditions to the survey at: http://www.unisa.edu.au/management/research/QuestionnaireTerms.asp

You need to read and understand these terms before completing the survey.

We'll be drawing together the results and publishing them at the end of the year.

Thankyou,

Stephen McKenzie.

Well an interesting research topic, but I think way off the mark.  Must have been thought up by somebody that doesn't even listen to classical music.  Are mash-ups an issue?  Nobody ever talks about them, we just sit and buy and discuss recordings.  Not watch junk on youtube.  Classical crowd is quite a bit different from the pop crowd.  I know there is a youtube room but it's not that busy.  If you want to see a busy thread check out the purchases thread instead.

Your basic premise is flawed. If it is remixed and edited, it isn't classical music any more, and only a small percentage of us would care about it one way or the other. Certainly there are a few, and I wouldn't want to deprive them of this privilege, but the concept of remixing classical music is anathema for the preponderance of us. Just sayin'... :)
