Why trudge to a store when you can buy all you want on the I N T E R N E T.

Used Lps and some used CDs (remember the Blomstedt Sibelius 7?) can be ridiculously expensive online (ebay, amazon marketplace, gemm).  My theory is that it's cheap to keep a listing going until some highroller comes along.  Even when record prices are reasonable, the high shipping charges often erase any advantage.  In a brick 'n' mortar, items have a much more limited "eye" traffic, and stuff needs to be priced to move so that rent can be paid on time.   Several times I've bought things for over $20 on ebay and then found them for under $2 at Record Surplus or Amoeba.   Of course, not everyone has access to a big city discount record store, so they are stuck with epaying through the nose if they really, really want that rare Frampton Live album.  (I can only get up to the big L.A. stores every couple of months or so myself, to say nothing of the gas usage for a 4 hour round trip.)
