Fatherland or motherland?  "Fatherland" sounds strange coming from a Russian.

But in Russia, it is referred as "fatherland". It is called "Otechestvo" as derived from the word "otets" ("father").

I think the reason why marasmus went to Russia is because he has turned 27, and now is free of military servicetude. I have seven more years to wait. 8)

Oh, because "fatherland" is a historical term for Germany in the period of Hitler's reign.

Funny, I'm in Chicago now  :D but I'll be back in Moscow in a couple of weeks - will be interesting to read your observations.
