Sunday I happened upon and purchased these recordings at a good price.
Have you had listening experience with these specific items?
What did you think?

Mozart: Requiem/hvk/bpo
Dvorak: Requiem/Macal/New Jersey
Verdi: Requiem/Friscay/Berlin RIAS

I'm listening to the Mozart/Karajan now and really enjoy it.

I have the Fricsay in a (mono) DG double CD set with Rossini's Stabat Mater. Is that the one you're talking about? With Stader, Dominguez, Carelli, and Sardi. I can't seem to find a date in the very flimsy 'booklet' of a folded piece of cardboard.

It's got the requisite audience participation of a live recording, but as I recall, it's a visceral, if slow, performance. I remember the Libera Me being particularly awesome - that's not quite the word I want (makes me sound like a teenager, but the brain's not functioning properly at the moment :-\). I mean evoking the sense of awe and dread in face of the almighty and the abyss. All this and I don't even particularly like Stader.

Hope you're enjoying your acquisitions :).

Novitiate:

the singers are; stader, radev, krebs, borg (resistance is futile!).
it's a single dg disc from 'the originals' series.

Ring_of_fire:

this is a single dg disc from the eloquence series and also contains friscay performances of 'laudaute dominum & exultate jubilate.

the hvk and friscay performances all have @1962 on them.

Comrades:

I've found the Mozart and Verdi recordings to both be very enjoyable.
I can't warm up to the Dvorak yet.  His symphonies and dances speak to me more than does his Requiem.
