I estimate that, after I rip my CDs to lossless and add them, along with downloads containing MP3 and lossless, I would still have half my iPod empty. (But, I'll stay positive, and say that it will be half full.)

I was once of the opinion that a 4 or an 8 gig player would do for me. Now I'm simply spoilt.

I do have a little steam-driven mp3 player thing that has a few Elgar pieces on it, so I can listen to his music when I sit in his garden. Does that count?
