I believe that as I compose the second movement of the viola sonata, Suspension Bridge, I will Think the Shed.

MN Dave

The Shed is indifferent but I think that's grand.  :)

The Shed is indifferent to that which is not in the Shed.
But the Shed contains all things that are.
Therefore the Shed is indifferent to Nothing.
Therefore the Shed is not indifferent to Anything.

This paradox reveals the essence of the Shed.

No paradox- just two sentences which don't agree with each other.  :D

MN Dave

The Shed cares not whether it is indifferent or not and to what.

The Shed contains all things that are contained, and Nothing that is not contained.
Therefore the Shed does not contain Nothing.
Therefore the Shed contains Something.
Therefore the Shed is never Empty.

The Shed contains its own indifference.

What cares the hoe in the corner of the Shed?

And this is the Tale of How Autumn Began:

When time began there were the Trees.
And the Trees begat the Shed.
And the Trees looked upon the Shed, and said, Lo, the Shed we have made is good.
But the Shed attended to the Words of the Hut of Knowledge, and the Trees expelled the Shed from the Forest.
And the people looked on in sorrow, and cried:
Behold, the Trees' Shed leaves.

What cares the hoe in the corner of the Shed?
And there was a Sign above the entrance to the Shed, and the Sign said:

'All hoe abandon, ye who in enter.'

If you meet the Shed on the road, torch it!

You've written libretti for P.D.Q. Bach, haven't you.

I love how the curtain line is shaggy dog, yet there is such elegance and economy in the story.
