Introducing the Contraforte!

An article in The Washington Post highlights their contrabassoonist's discovery of a new, invented instrument which is supposed to mitigate against the c-b's unwieldyness and untrustworthiness.

This article came about because of the DC orchestra being the recipient of the world's first c-b concerto by Kalevi AHO (love to hear it). Anyhow, this instrument, the contraforte, was invented by two Bavarians, from the ground up, to 'fix' the c-b's 'problems'. Apparently, it has worked!
