What are DDoS, and what business do they have in a classical music blog ??  >:(

Lots of Shostakovich lovers here, so possibly a disgruntled Boulez fan.  >:D

The forum refused to load any pages for about half an hour , but now (and before that) it's the quickest I can remember.

Greetings,

After being locked out and wrasslin' with my account for several days, I finally just went ahead and created a new one!  ;D  Many thanks to the kind folks who tried to assist.

FWIW, the issue was that I tried to change my email address in my profile, which prompts the system to send a confirmation email.  No matter what I tried, I never managed to receive that email at my new email address (@hotmail.com), even though GMG kept saying it was sent.  The system also prevented me from creating a new account pointing to that new email (saying it was already taken), which makes me think I must have entered it correctly.  Perhaps it's something up with Hotmail, not sure -- nothing shows up in my spam filters, etc.

At any rate, I was able to create a new account using my old yahoo email, so all is good.

Rob &/or the mods -- if it's easily possible to unlock my old account, please do so and I'll go back to that -- but it's not a big deal, or worth spending a lot of time to troubleshoot.

Cheers,
j winter (now including a space for your viewing pleasure :) )

Nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds,
Is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils.

And his affections dark as Erebus.

Yes, the site is literally flying! At least for me it is. Many thanks for your huge efforts! I hope it remains as fast as now. But it gets slow when I try post (just right now).

Now that the bots have gone, apparently the Havergal Brian thread also fell silent.  ???
… music is not only an 'entertainment’, nor a mere luxury, but a necessity of the spiritual if not of the physical life, an opening of those magic casements through which we can catch a glimpse of that country where ultimate reality will be found.    RVW, 1948

No.  It depends when you access it.  It crawls at times and flies at times.

No luck accessing the site this morning. I only got in around noon, and it’s been all right since then.

Been just like that for me for the last few days: Can't get on from ~7AM CDT until ca. 11AM. Then, it works like a champ until I leave ~10PM. Next day(s) the same. Very strange behavior... :-\

It's been mostly bad since your first post above, but right now it seems excellent.

Yes it is better, but still not so fast as it should be. I had to wait a full 2 minutes before there was a reaction, going through the different sections took me another 2 minutes. So there are still issues. But this is better as it was. It must have cost Rob a lot of effort.
