I have never had this problem, nor do I have an Apple machine on which to attempt to simulate it, so I can't help you there. However, no matter what platform you are using, when the login box comes up, there is a checkbox available which says "Stay logged in forever". I checked it when we went to this software version in 2007 and I haven't logged in since. Obviously this isn't the sort of thing you would want to do with just any website, but for a classical music chat board, using your own device, IMO you are not giving up any security by checking the box. :)

But when you clear your history, aren't you then automatically logged out?

If you clear cookies.

Also it seems if the forum software gets upgraded we may have to log back in.

Thank you for your response JBS.  I must admit, I don't like having cookies stuck to me like a burr to my gardening gloves or clothing following me around everywhere...perhaps I'm being paranoid, but just trying to be safe on my computers.

Best wishes,

PD

I have Chrome set to clear cookies and browsing data every time I close it. But I use an app called Lastpass that logs me in automatically when I start a new session. So forgive the confusion: the way I told you was the way I had it for nearly 15 years, but now I have it different. BTW, I highly recommend Lastpass, it means I only ever have to remember one password!

Tried it, but I did not understand how it worked and was lost in the maze of this program, so I removed it out of my extensions list.

I wonder whether or not our Chief might have been doing some site maintenance?  :-\

Very slow and even at times inaccessible for me much of the time to day, but no problems just now.

Is it just me, or have the amazon ASIN codes ceased to work properly? In many (but not all) psost that have them--including my own--the cover image of the CD is not displayed (even if the link to the appropriate amazon.com page does work). This has been happening for the past two weeks or so.

The attached image illustrates the issue (I hope our fellow GMGer JBS doesn't mind me using his post as an example--he's been kind enough to use the ASIN link and display the cover image of the CD in his post).

Why thank you!
I assumed it to be an Amazon problem, since the link itself works.

Amazon ASIN are still working, but Google doesn't like them anymore ;)

Just change your Chrome setting for the GMG website.
When you are in the GMG home page, click the "lock" icon beside the URL, go to Site Setting, then "Permissions", then scroll down to "Insecure Content", then use the drop-down list to change "Block (default)" to "Allow."

Or use a different browser. With my Edge it works fine.

To allow insdcure content seems slightly scary. Think I will try another browser.

Well, in that way you allow insecure content just from the GMG website, not from other sites. But I can understand your reasons.

Funny to notice how Google considers unsafe what is coming from Amazon...

Well on the WAYLTN thread it's been reported that the problem is not Chrome per se, but an extension in Chrome.

At some point in the not-too-recent past, Goggle has decided they own the Internet. There are some websites that I have to switch browsers for simply because Google doesn't like them, or else I will only see about half their content. Pain in the arse... >:(
