Ray, I had a vasectomy during my first marriage, which ended a couple of years later.  Based on my experience, I advise not getting one unless you are absolutely sure you won't want (more) children in the future under any circumstances, including possible future relationships/marriages.  Vasectomy reversal success rates are not great and they are rather expensive when compared to the cost of a vasectomy.  (Although the health care system in Canada is different than in the U.S., so cost might not be an issue there.)  Just something to think about.

This thread reminded me of a joke I heard: 

A man goes to the doctor and tell the doctor that he wants to be castrated.  The doctor questions him about this and the mans assures the doctor that he and his wife discussed it and they were certain.  So the man has the castration surgery and wakes up in the recovery room.  He sees another man in the neighboring bed and asks him why he is there.  The neighbor tells the man that he was just circumcised.  The man smacks his head and says "that's the word I was trying to remember!"
