Satanism is mostly about being anti-religion and into yourself as far as I can tell. Nothing to do with mythology unless you're a psychopath. :D

Sure. And why not?

Exactly. "Why not?" shall be the whole of the music appreciation law.

For anyone interested in the new stuff that came out this year:

http://www.popmatters.com/feature/176995-the-best-metal-of-2013/P3/

Wouldn't expect such an entertaining list from a site called "popmatters," but I found a few that were quite different and interesting (and enjoyable). Gorguts came out at #5 (how can you beat 1950's Dalai Lama/Tibetan-themed death metal? lol), Carcass at #3, In Solitude at #1...

Also, not exactly metal, but a really good new prog rock band that my friend sent me the link to:

Yep, In Solitude #1.  :)

Why do metal bands always write their names in a crown-of-thorns manner, many times making it completely unintelligible?

How ironic a name for the album, Jason Newsted must have thought.

Very cool, thanks!
(a bit awkward when the bass drops out again for some fast riff, and comes back very loud again)

I didn't listen to all of it (headed over to a friend's place), but it definitely seemed to be better than the original mix.
