One of the few actors to appear in two Oscar winning "best films" but for a certain generation (especially if you come from Liverpool) he will always be Yozzer "Gizza Job" Hughes in the always powerful Boys from the Blackstuff - which coincidentally has recently been adapted for the stage.

The phrase I associate with him from LOTR is "So it begins...."

Superb as the Duke of York in all three parts of the BBC Henry VI and the Duke of Norfolk in Wolf Hall

Adds a bittersweet glaze to my recent revisitation of Jackson's LOTR.

Yes, indeed.
"A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people ... then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbour — such is my idea of happiness"

I quite like Boys from the Blackstuff. I even have it on DVD.
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

I'm not sure that Tolkien needed an "hasta la vista, baby," but there it is.
