Good luck there, Snyprrrrrr....

I binged from ImportCDs a while back, and ordered about $300 worth of stuff. Oddly, they have not charged me or sent the music (It's been a couple of weeks).  Not sure what to make of it...
It's all good...

lol, - I know, it saps your expectation meter when things don't go exactly as planned...

Apparently I'm ordering all this cheap stuff from Germany which'll get here... whenever... which kind of semi-defeats the purpose, but, hey, masochism!

It's Henze vs. Francaix, that's how bad it is, lol

For me, it is Elcock vs. Frederick May, the amateur vs the psychiatric patient.

BTW I have called a halt to future purchases effective today!

I contacted ImportCDs and they said they cancelled my order due to some Credit card issue, but I could order again.  I'm sure my credit card has no issue, and the price on 3 of the boxes I'd ordered is now higher, one MUCH higher. Just as well, I guess.  The buying ardor is gone now.

ImportCD just did the exact same thing to me again!! I ordered, got my order number, etc. and then nothing.  I finally contacted them again and they suggest I reorder.  I love their prices, but if they never send me any of the goods, that is a real problem--or else it is the ultimate cure for for CDCDCD :D
I have actually acquired digital versions of the boxes, so technically don't need them at all. But they are such good boxes and at such incredibly low prices (about $1.30 per disk, after shipping and handling is factored in).  It is as though the cheap-skate part of my character is telling me to take advantage of a super bargain...that I don't really need.  ??? ??? ???  :'(::)

You should contact your credit card company. I frequently have the problem that my credit card company declines an order because it tripped some poorly designed fraud-detection algorithm. However, it seems like poor practice for importcd not to notify you of the issue.

I had a similar problem at deep discount. Anyway, if you can get someone to call you, maybe you could order it over the phone? They could then be there on the phone when the order goes through to see if it works. I don't see a number on the site unfortunately. Still, perhaps worth a shot (and then either you will simply call that number every time you want to order or they will explain to you what you need to do to avoid in the future). In can be tricky sometimes internationally - I'd check to see if the card you used was declined or whether the card never got the request in the first place. They (importcds) also accept paypal, so perhaps worth trying that instead as well.

You are both probably right: they did say that it was a credit issue. I was skeptical because I use my card all the time on and off line, but as you have had the same experience, I give their reason more credence (the first time, the prices on two of my items went up sharply, so I was convinced it was merely them covering their ass for a price listing mistake). Still, at this time I will merely consider myself to have been lucky in dodging a bullet.  God knows I really don't need another mega-box!

My credit card company is set up to send me a text or email when a transaction gets blocked due to "fraud detection." And usually I have to confirm with them before my card gets activated again.

Paypal would avoid this I think, but I don't know if it is practical for you or not.

Credit cards are so different. Some will stop my card anytime I use them in a new country. It was such a pain until I figured that out. Others will call within 1-2 transactions. Still others will barely call at all. It is sort of amazing really. I should also mention that the first time my wife used paypal, the credit card declined her purchase! I don't know who is at fault in your case, but the potential is on both sides for sure (credit card or importcds).

Amazon.co.uk marketplace has been a source of collecting used CDs with very low prices, as low as 2 euros delivered. A few months ago Amazon sellers started to use higher delivery costs and the availability of cheap CDs has got worse dramatically. I used to collect these cheap classical CDs, but it seems that hobby is over. Since the prises are up, I will buy MUCH less! Maybe some quality stuff a few times a year but that's it. It was fun while it lasted and so much for CDCDCD.  ;D
Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.
Crossfeeders reduce spatial distortion and make the sound more natural
and less tiresome in headphone listening.

And sometimes significantly higher postage costs.

It used to be £1.26 to UK and £1.82 to Finland. Now it's all over the place, total anarchy. Some seller had FREE delivery to UK, but when I tried to buy the CD, the delivery cost to Finland was whopping £30 !!  ???

The silver lining of this development is that instead of buying new discs, I'm more motivated / forced to listen to what I already have.  0:) Too bad my recent discovery of contemporary classical music was cut short because of this... ...I discovered it too late.

20 years ago when I got into classical music DVD or Blu-rays where not a thing, so all "collecting budget" was for music. Then 2001 I started buying DVDs and I had to limit that money going to CDs. Now it's Blu-rays. Amazon.co.uk marketplace has been a way to manage buying movies and music for reasonable cost, but now it's changing and I simply must buy less. I already have much more music than movies, so I want to keep buying movies meaning I must stop buying music as much I have. So my life got worse and for that I say to the world: "FUCK YOU!!"

My CDCDCD has been under control for a long time. However, Moonfish (yes, you Peter!) has recently returned to GMG.  An enabler of the worst kind  >:D
   Be warned.
I'm not saying that he's evil, exactly.  Just be careful. It seems like you are just having a pleasant chat about old times with a charming and agreeable fellow, and then, next thing you know, your Amazon cart is overflowing with CDs and box sets, and you find yourself wondering whether it should really be your responsibility to pay for your kids' college ??? ???

Don't blame Moonie. You have been repressing natural urges, and there comes a time you must confront them and ask yourself "am I really a monk at heart? Is perpetual Lent really what will make me happy? Should I give up Bourbon next?" Only you can know, search your heart.

And that Abbado box is fantastic.

Well, thank you (I think). The kids can take out loans on their own! He he! Ah, we only live once, but I'm in negotiation with an array of demons for a few more lives so I can listen to all the music I have access to. And, yes, that Abbado box is indeed fantastic!     >:D  Wait, there is a Salonen compilation?

Excuse me, I need to go now. There are a few more items in my shopping cart!

DG is so devious to keep repackaging and fusing these earlier box releases.  >:(
I'm pretty much set for life as well in terms of Karajan. No need for the super mega hoopla Mount Everest boxes like this one unless one has a really big cat!
